About the Client

Our client is one of Ireland’s largest pharmaceutical companies, employing over 5,000 people across three major sites and has invested billions of euros in its operations. With staff working around the clock in a 24-hour manufacturing environment, their foodservice is an import part of their daily routine

Each year, more than 1.5 million food and drink items are sold on site, generating approximately millions of €uros in sales through the Zucchetti TCPOS system.

The Challenge

At lunchtime, thousands of staff would pour into the main dining areas, all looking to be served within the same short window. Queues grew quickly and became overwhelming for the catering staff.

The company needed a smarter way to speed up transactions, keep queues moving, and maintain service quality without adding more people behind the tills. At the same time, any solution had to be fully cashless, compliant with strict security standards, and flexible enough to handle canteens, kiosks, vending, and pre-order services.

The Project

  • At the busiest sites, visioncheckout was installed to instantly recognise food on trays and process payments without scanning. Staff could simply place their tray down, and the transaction was complete in seconds.
  • Across the three sites, 12 fixed POS terminals and 4 kiosks supported both staffed and self-service sales.
  • 20 cashless vending machines were added, integrated with the MySystopia app and website, making it easy for staff to top up accounts and pre-order meals.
  • All of this was provided under a rental model, which included hardware, licensing, hosting, and ongoing support.

Adoption was immediate. Around 60 per cent of lunchtime transactions at the main site now run through visioncheckout, freeing catering staff from bottlenecks at peak times. The client has since added more visioncheckout units and extended their contract to refresh all POS hardware with Zucchetti support.
